Archives and Research Center
The Rock County Historical Society’s Archives and Research Center is housed in the Wilson King Stone House at the corner of Mineral Point and Jackson Street in Janesville. The archives holds a wide variety of scrapbooks, photographs, posters, postcards, maps, plat books, diaries, letters, ledgers, company records, church histories, city directories, and news clippings. You can also search through our indexes of the Janesville Recorder, the Janesville Gazette marriage and death records, Cemetery indexes, the Beloit Newspaper, probate records, and marriage license applications. Rock County Historical Society also maintains a separate collection of over 3000 documents regarding the Tallman families.
Access to the archives is free to members of the Rock County Historical Society and $10 for nonmembers. Research services are offered at $20/hour for the first hour and $10/hour thereafter. Please review our research procedures in our downloadable brochure.
