Where Past Meets Present

Rock County Historical Society

Volunteer Opportunities

Choose one volunteer opportunity or several. We’d love to have you participate.

INTERPRETER

Help tell the story of Rock County’s most recognizable icon, the Lincoln-Tallman House. Show visitors from bus tour groups to school children the beauty and history of the site.

ARCHIVES ASSOCIATE

Dig into historical documents and photos while helping our clients discover their past. Help visitors find information on their families or homes. Maybe you will even be able to find photos or artifacts related to their history!

WALKING TOUR GUIDE

Do you like talking to people? Provide neighborhood walking tours of Janesville and other Rock County communities. Show small groups the history and beauty of architecture on Court House Hill or Oak Hill Cemetery.

CAMPUS CARETAKER

Help us care for and maintain our unique sites and grounds. Perhaps you like gardening or have a skill related to maintenance, and we always need help with cleaning!

GUEST SERVICES

Help us make everyone who steps on campus feel welcome and special. It all starts with guest services! Greet our guests and help them decide which tours they might want to take, or which other sites they might want to visit.

EVENT ASSISTANT

You can make our events unique and memorable by aiding us with event logistics!
