Where Past Meets Present

Volunteer Spotlight: Rita Walker

For the past 20 years, Rita Walker has shared her time with the Rock County Historical Society.  Rita has been welcoming visitors and guests to the Lincoln-Tallman House as an interpreter, and special event volunteer.  From giving regular tours to opening the house for special events like the Tallman Arts Festival, Rita has told the story of the Tallmans to generations of guests.

Rita is an avid gardener, and a grandmother to our very own Meghan Walker!  Since Meghan was in preschool, Rita has been bringing her to RCHS events.  One such event was a fashion show, featuring dresses over the decades.  It is through Rita’s love of the Lincoln-Tallman House and Rock County history that drives individuals like Meghan to want to be part of the Rock County Historical Society and to preserve the memory of Rock County’s great past.

We are so grateful to have Rita as a part of our volunteer community and that she brought Meghan with her!  Like so many of our interpreters, she helps us to make each guest feel welcome on our campus, and give them great experiences.
