Where Past Meets Present

Lincoln-Tallman House

Rock County Historical Society Tour Season Begins June 1

Rock County Historical Society’s tour season officially begins June 1 and runs through December 30. The Society is offering daily tours of the Lincoln-Tallman House, and now offers three different thematic tours that keep your Lincoln-Tallman House visit fresh and exciting.

This year, guests can choose from three unique Tallman House tour offerings: The Traditional Tallman Tour uncovers the history behind the grand 19th century home. Guests will hear stories of the daily life of the Tallman family and learn about the 1859 visit of Abraham Lincoln; the Tallman’s Technologies Tour focuses on the advanced amenities of the house, including indoor running water, natural gas, and an intercom system; and the Help Wanted Tour is a hands-on experience in which visitors learn about Victorian life through the eyes of the servants in the Lincoln-Tallman House.

The Traditional Tallman Tour is offered daily, and begins every hour on the hour at 11:00am, with the last tour beginning at 2:00pm. Help Wanted is offered at 10:00am and 3:00pm daily. Tallman’s Technologies is by appointment 48 hours in advance.

Tickets may be purchased at the Helen Jeffris Wood Museum Center located at 426 N. Jackson St. in Janesville. Prices may vary. Do you have an interest in giving tours of the Lincoln-Tallman House? Contact Amanda Strobel Wise at [email protected] for information on how you can get involved.
