Where Past Meets Present

Light the Way Event Contributes to Lighting Restoration

Join the Rock County Historical Society for an evening of music and dining as they launch the Light the Way campaign, taking place on Sunday, June 28th from 5:30pm-8pm.  This will be a tented event held on the lawn of the Lincoln-Tallman house, located at 440 N Jackson Street.  There will be heavy hors d’oeuvres from artist Chef Rafe and Jazz entertainment provided by the Rock River Philharmonic!

Funds raised from the event will help re-illuminate the interior gas fixtures of the Lincoln-Tallman House.  On November 2, 1869, the Tallman family enjoyed gas lighting for the first time – something that changed their world forever.  In fact, they were one of the first families to bring gas lighting to Janesville.  Our aim is to light the Lincoln-Tallman House once again, expanding possibilities for programming and continued rental use.

The cost for RCHS members is $60, and for non-members $75.  For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit http://rchs.us/lighttheway/, or RSVP at 608-756-4509 ext. 5.  We hope you come out, support our cause, and restore history!
