MATERIALS

The Plan utilizes a simple palette of paving

and walkway materials. Each was selected

based on materials currently in place and to

ensure historical authenticity of the site. Three

primary paving materials are recommended:

NATURAL STONE•

Stone pavers, crushed

limestone and reused

limestone panels from the

North Jackson Street

sidewalk have been

strategically selected for

specific sites and thematic

zones, based on historical authenticity. The

reused limestone panels will be specifically

utilized around the north and northwest sides

of the Wilson King Stone House.

ASPHALT•

Currently on the site in use

on driving areas,

specifically on the Tallman

House drive, existing

asphalt on the site will

continue, until it reaches

end of life. When this

occurs, consideration of using crushed

limestone that is historically accurate will be

discussed.

CONCRETE•

The introduction of

concrete is recommended

in primarily new, non-

historic areas with heavy

foot traffic, the driveways

between the Museum

Center and Archives, for

example. Color concrete is an option as well

and colors suggested would specifically

compliment other materials on the site.
