Feeling festive? We’ll help you to fill your season with joy this Christmas! From traditional holiday events to new twists on our popular festivities, you’ll find merriments for all ages this year at RCHS. Let the good tidings roll!

Tallman House Holiday Tours

“12 Days of Christmas”-themed Holiday Tours

RSVP for a Christmas TourFrom 12 Drummers Drumming to a Partridge in a Pear Tree, each room of the Lincoln-Tallman House will highlight one day of this classic Christmas song.

While taking in the beauty of the home decorated in its holiday best, you’ll discover the message hidden within the lyrics of The Twelve Days of Christmas. Stroll through each room and view more than 20 trees creatively decorated by local businesses and individuals.

Plus this year, for the first time, take an evening tour and see the beautiful décor lit only by Christmas trees and gasoliers.

Christmas With The Tallmans

It’s the adults’ night to party, at the newly renovated Carriage House at RCHS – transformed for one night into the Tallman Yule Haus! Don your most comfortable clothes and join the merriment. Cocktails, snacks and more await.

Janesville's Jolly JingleThe evening begins with cocktails from 7-8 p.m. in the Lincoln-Tallman House, where you’ll see the mansion dressed in its festive best. More than 20 trees will adorn the home, each creatively decorated by a local business or individual. Back at the Yule Haus, mingle with friends and watch for Krampus: the hairy, horned devil who punishes naughty children!

Whether you’re on Santa’s naughty or nice list, you’re invited! Space is limited for this adults-only event.

Supply Drive for GIFTS Men’s Shelter

To make the winter warmer for so many in need in our community, RCHS asks you to help us collect items for GIFTS Men’s Shelter in Janesville, which provides shelter and services to homeless men.

The shelter is in need of: Backpacks; 2018 Pocket Calendars; Men’s Boxers and/or Briefs (all sizes); Men’s Slippers; Men’s Pajama Pants; Bus Tokens; Coffee, Creamer & Sugar; Paper Towels; Kleenex; and Daytime Cold Medicine (no alcohol).

Bring your donation to the Rock County Historical Society Museum Center, 426 N. Jackson, during normal business hours from Nov. 20 – Dec. 1, or during our Christmas with the Tallmans event.

Unique Holiday Gifts

From ornaments and broaches created by local artists to note cards featuring historic photos of Rock County, you’ll find an array of truly distinct merchandise at the RCHS Gift Shop.

Stop in and browse at the Helen Jeffris Wood Museum Center, 426 N. Jackson St., Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

GIFTS Men's ShelterGiving Back to the Community

In the true spirit of Christmas, a portion of the proceeds raised from A Tallman Christmas will be donated to GIFTS Men’s Shelter, the only shelter in Rock County that provides shelter and services to homeless men.
