2016 Historic House Tour and Historical Homes Celebration

The Rock County Historical Society’s 36th Annual Historic House tour is coming up on August 21. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., guests can take self-guided tours of six houses in Janesville’s Courthouse Hill neighborhood. This historic neighborhood boasts a wide range of architectural styles ranging from dramatic Queen Annes to quaint bungalows.

Pre-sale tickets are $15 each and can be purchased online at http://rchs.us/event/36th-annual-historic-house-tour/ from now until 3 p.m. on Aug. 20, 2016. Day-of tickets are $20 each and may be purchased on-site at Jefferson Park on Aug. 21, 2016.

The Society kicks off the tour weekend at The Gray Goose building on August 20th. The Historical Homes Celebration, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. allows guests to explore this vast, 23,000 square foot commercial building that was originally a tobacco warehouse in the 19th century. Guided tours of the future offices of Foremost Media on the second floor will be provided.

Attendees will enjoy heavy appetizers, wine, beer, and the sounds of The Schwanky Modes as the Society previews the 2016 House Tour of the Courthouse Hill neighborhood the next day. Also in store is a glimpse of exciting programs and tours presented by the Society for the remainder of 2016: Sunday Dinner, Spirits in the Night Tour, and Deck the Halls Holiday programming.

The Society and the Gray Goose are delighted to be able to open this event to the general public. This event is adult only and you must be 21 or older to attend.
